If your Samsung smartphone is showing signs of damage, you might want to call a doorstep mobile repair service and not plan on buying a new Samsung phone till February 13, 2020. Word is out that mobile phone retailers will be boycotting business with the Korean giant for 3 days, starting from February 11, 2020. The move is in response to Samsung refusing to withdraw promotional activities in league with Amazon Pay, Amazon's digital payment service.
The boycott will be exercised through online posts protesting Samsung’s attitude towards retail sales. Retailers will also cover Samsung graphics and products displayed in their shops with black covers. They will cease business with the company for 3 days straight.
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Secretary General, Praveen Khandelwal, tweeted his take on the matter, tagging @SamsungIndia to comment on the path they have taken. The tweet warned Samsung to stop all exclusive offers and cut its ties with Amazon Pay. Praveen Khandelwal also highlights that CAIT’s 7 crore traders are standing in solidarity with AIMRA against Samsung’s blatant exploitation.
All India Mobile Retail Association (AIMRA) issued a WhatsApp message, to express their predicament. The message read (sic), "Such activities have caused great damage to us but the brand does not seem to be interested in working with offline traders. This is the only reason why they are the only brand with M Series exclusive tie up and now to grab our customers they have also tied up for a cash back offer through Amazon Pay. We all have been vehemently opposing this move but Samsung is adamant and underestimating the #PowerOfOffline."
A huge smartphone market in India will be affected if Samsung does not find a middle ground with CAIT and AIMRA. In light of the Coronavirus epidemic, Samsung will have to take string steps so the sales are not affected.
